Slalom foiling is the big development within wind foiling. Starboard has a range of carbon slalom foil boards that are optimized for full speed half wind and down wind foiling. Compared to the X-15 Slalom wind foil boards of 2023, the boards have been optimized even further, even more control and top speed.

Up to about 24 knots of wind, the slalom wind foil board is unbeatable. Starboard didn’t win the PWA constructors award for the news!

Starboard X-15 Foil Slalom Boards Improved Aerodynamics

The X-15 2024 is a further development of the 1st generation X-15. The outline of the board has become even more aerodynamic, with the extended round back being the most noticeable. As a result, the board has become 15 cm longer! That improved airflow ensures that you can wind foil noticeably more stable.

The cut outs at the back have become slightly larger, which makes it even easier to get on the foil. The nose has become thicker, so that the board bounces up more easily during touch downs.

Who are the Starboard foil slalom boards for?

The Starboard foil slalom boards have been developed for riders who want to be the fastest on the water and especially want to foil half wind or down wind. You will have the best performance if you choose a foil setup with front wings that have a surface area of up to 750cm2 or smaller, short fuselages of up to about 105cm with a small back wing.

Don’t expect to be able to wind foil at 7 to 8 knots with this set up!

Which size to choose?

For the lower wind range, the 89 cm is the best size. However, the new X-15 of 85 cm is already more effective than the 89 cm from about 10 knots and the Starboard X-15 85 cm can be controlled well up to well above 24 knots.

For the X-15 89 cm, sail sizes between 7.0 m2 and 9.0 m2 are the most ideal. The X-15 81 cm foils best with sizes between 8.0m2 and 6.0m2. The X-15 79 cm is best combined with sails of 7.0m2 and smaller.
