The Starboard UCS angle spacer set is an essential tuning accessory to get the most out of your Starboard UCS wingfoil or windfoil. A set consists of 7 aluminum spacers in 0.2-degree increments.

Included in the UCS aluminum spacer set are:

• -0.4 degree spacer
• -0.2 degree spacer
• 0 degree spacer (default spacer on the fuselages)
• 0.2 degree spacer
• 0.4 degree spacer
• 0.6 degree spacer
• 0.8 degree spacer

How to use the UCS shims?

With the standard plastic 0 degree shim (this is supplied as standard with every UCS fuselage) the foil provides an average amount of lift. This is a fine setup for most foilers.

Replace the standard spacer on the fuselage!

The standard spacer on the fuselage (the plastic spacer) is 0! The plastic spacer is glued in place and must first be removed to install other shims. With the 0 degree spacer on the fuselage, the trim is generally balanced. For many foilers, this trim with the standard shims is fine in most cases.

Using the metal spacers

The optional metal spacer set (not included with UCS fuselages and foils) contains 7 different spacers, in 0.2 degree increments;

• -0.4
• -0.2
• 0 (standard shim)
• 0.2
• 0.4
• 0.6
• 0.8

The position where you place the spacers is at an angle. Spacer 0.8 provides the LARGEST angle of the rear or front wing and provides the MOST lift, while spacer -0.4 provides the SMALLEST angle and the LEAST lift.

This applies to both the rear wing and the front wing.

The lower the number, the less lift the foil provides!

Replacing the (standard) 0 degree shim with the 0.4 degree shim, for example, increases the wing angle (‘the angle of attack‘), resulting in more lift.
