Starboard IQfoil junior aluminium 800 – Updated

The Starboard IQfoil junior aluminium 800 is the official wind foil for the IQfoil junior classes up to 17 years. This set consists of an extra rigid aluminum mast of 95cm, 1 fuselage 115 cm plus a carbon front wing of 800 cm2 and a carbon back wing of 255 cm2 (-2 degrees) and storage bag. The back wing is adjustable. This is a high performance windfoil from Starboard for a reasonable amount, suitable for the competition oriented windfoiler.

The Starboard IQfoil aluminium 800 is intended for young competition surfers who want to participate in the IQfoil competitions. This windfoil has an extra stiff full aluminum mast of 95 cm long. The mast is long enough to have enough distance between the bottom of the board and the wings, which makes the wings less likely to get out of the water and the extra stiffness allows you to push the board even more extreme upwind.

This high performance foil allows you to wind up around 6 to 7 knots. This wind foil good up wind very well and can almost be for the wind and is therefore extremely suitable for coarse racing. The 95 cm plus fuselage can be used for strong winds or half wind courses.

Trimmable fuselage

With this fuselage you get 6 ‘spacers’ delivered to trim the angle of the rear wing. The recommended angle is -0.5 degrees or +1.0 degree.

Advice settings for 115 cm IQfoil fuselage:

-1.5° for strong wind (never use this spacer)
-1° for wind speed around more than25 knots
-0.5° for wind speeds around 20 tot 25 knots
-0° for wind speeds around 15 to 20 knots
+ 0.5° for wind speeds between 10 and 15 knots
+1° for wind speeds less than 8 knots

Our findings about the Starboard IQfoil aluminium 800:

+ Very good windfoil, especially considering the amount.
+ The stiffer mast makes upwind pushing even easier
+ Flying from about 7-8 knots
+ Very good construction
+ Can upgrade wind foil by purchasing loose parts
+ Especially suitable for lighter (up to about 70 kg) competitive surfer

– Race foil, less suitable for novice windfoilers
– Not suitable for heavier competition wind foils (>70 kg), the IQfoil aluminum upgrade (with 900 cm2 front wing) is then a better option
